Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue - DVD review

I had already taken my girls to see this at the movies, but as a member of Aussie Mummy Bloggers, I was so excited when the opportunity arose to review a pre-release copy of the latest Tinkerbell movie - Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue.

Rated: G
Running Time: 73 Mins

The excitement in our household had been building over the days since we had received our copy of the DVD in the mail.  But before any DVD viewing, we had to get through the end of the week, my daughter's birthday party and Father's Day activities.  Finally, some spare time on a rainy Sunday afternoon set the scene.......
Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue tells the story of the first time Tinkerbell meets a human - a lovely, but lonely little girl named Lizzy.  Through their chance meeting, a special bond develops. But Tinkerbell's fairy friends believe she is being held captive by the humans and bravely set out to rescue her.  The movie has a central theme of friendship and shows what can be achieved when friends work together.
My girls absolutely loved this movie! They were enthralled the entire time and there was plenty of loud laughter to be heard in our lounge room.  They had a few favourite scenes, but none that I will share otherwise I might give some of the magical moments away! In their words The movie was so great!!....I really liked that!!

From an adult's perspective, I'll admit that I thoroughly enjoyed it too (yes, even the second time around!) It was heart-warming (although it brought a tear to my eye at times - I'm an emotional type!) and I appreciated the underlying theme about the importance of friendship. The animation is just gorgeous and it is full of child-appropriate humour (which is often hard to come by in children's movies). Out of the three Tinkerbell movies, this would have to be my favourite.

Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue is available to own on DVD and Blu-Ray from 15 September 2010.

Many thanks to Aussie Mummy Bloggers, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Porter Novelli for the chance to review such an exciting and entertaining movie.
